The Finke Opera House opened on August 14, 1885. In 1937 the theatre was converted for movies. It operated as the Ritz Theatre into the 1970s. Through generous financial contributions, combined with countless volunteer hours by the California community and help from the Missouri Neighborhood Assistance Program, the newly renovated Finke Theatre reopened on September 26, 2009. The Finke Theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
