Portal Ranger Station, also called the Portal Work Station, is a small Forest Service complex in Cave Creek Canyon in the eastern Chiricahua Mountains near Portal, Arizona, within Coronado National Forest. Built on a one-acre site, its office building and pumphouse were constructed in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the New Deal era. Designed by United States Forest Service architects in the Craftsman Bungalow style, the office gave this remote administrative site a domestic character. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 for its three contributing buildings, its Bungalow/Craftsman architecture, and its link to the Forest Service's shift toward more active forest management.
