Wilson Arch is a natural sandstone arch in southeastern Utah along U.S. Route 191 south of Moab. Formed in Entrada Sandstone, it took shape as water entered cracks, froze and expanded, then melted while wind removed loosened rock, leaving freestanding fins in which some openings survived. Wilson Arch spans 91 feet and stands 46 feet high at an elevation of 6,175 feet. Named for local pioneer Joe Wilson, who had a nearby cabin in Dry Valley, it remains one of the region’s most recognizable roadside arches and a clear example of the erosion that shaped the surrounding landscape.
