Headlands Beach State Park is a public beach park on the Lake Erie shore in Mentor and Painesville Township, Ohio. Known as the longest natural beach in Ohio, it attracts about two million visitors annually and stands as one of the state's leading lakefront recreation areas. The state acquired its land in 1951 and 1952, opened it in 1953 as Painesville Beach State Park, and renamed it Headlands Beach two years later. Set between Mentor Marsh and the Grand River, it includes a 35-acre beach for swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, and beach glass hunting, with a breakwall and the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light marking its eastern end.
