Giant Forest, high on the western slope of California’s Sierra Nevada in Sequoia National Park, is one of the world’s most important concentrations of giant sequoias and a central destination within the park. Among its trees are five of the ten most massive on Earth, including the General Sherman Tree, the largest known by volume, as well as the President, the Lincoln, and the exceptionally tall Unnamed Tree. The broader landscape includes meadows, pines, firs, and wildlife. Indigenous peoples long cared for this place through cultural burning, later disrupted after settler arrival. Today, restoration, fire management, and climate pressures shape its continuing conservation story.
