Sixteen million men and women served in this country’s armed forces during World War II from 1941 to 1945. The cost of freedom included 292,131 killed in combat, 115,185 who died in non-battle incidents, 670,846 wounded in combat, and 78,987 missing in action. It is also dedicated to all those who served this nation in wars thereafter.
