Built around 1905, this brick structure is all that remains of the Stephan Lumber Company after a fire in 1978. Woodshop scenes for the 1994 motion picture “The Shawshank Redemption” were filmed in the building, and director Frank Darabont, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman, other actors and local extras, and the production crew completed those scenes in August 1993. The Wyandot County Courthouse also appears in the film.
