The building was purchased by the Cecil R. Lebas administration on December 18, 1977, to preserve a historic building and landmark of Evangeline Parish, serve the people of Ville Platte as City Hall with space for administrative and other departmental offices, provide more space and comfort for city employees and citizens, and help fulfill the needs of all citizens of Ville Platte.
