A general store opened on this site in 1869, when it was known as the Doubrava corner and later the Datel Block. Fredrick F. Doubrava took over the store in 1881, and A.F. Doubrava operated it until 1911. Over the next several years the building had a few owners and at one point was the Star movie theater. In 1915, Frank D. Datel, who had been running a general store in rented property elsewhere on Main Street, bought the property, removed the Doubrava buildings, and built the two-story brick structure to house the Datel Department store. Frank Datel sold the business in 1939. Dr. F.T. Fridrich operated a dental office on the second floor from 1916 to 1963, and the building has had various tenants since the sale, including Gambino's Pizza, which moved in in 1995.
