Neal Lane Bridge, near Myrtle Creek in southern Oregon, carries Neal Lane over South Myrtle Creek and is notable among the state’s covered bridges for its rarity rather than its size. At just 42 feet, it is an unusually short covered road bridge and the only covered bridge in Oregon built with a kingpost truss. Douglas County built it for $1,000, though its construction date is disputed between 1929 and 1939. Its modest but distinctive features include plank flooring, arched portals, narrow window openings, and a metal roof. A five-ton weight limit reflects both its small scale and its continued practical use.
