Beaver Head Stage Station was built in 1876 and abandoned in 1882 on the Prescott Santa Fe Stage Line, 507 miles along the route. It stood at the division point between Pine Springs to the northeast and Prescott to the southwest on a road built before 1866 that was used by the military, emigrants, and mail. This was the only road to Verde Valley until 1870, the only road north until 1902, and the only marker on the route from Prescott to Santa Fe.
