Lendonwood Gardens in Grove, Oklahoma, is a non-profit botanical garden on 8 acres that blends American and Japanese gardening traditions. Founded in 1995 by retired dentist Dr. Leonard Miller and organized as a non-profit in 1997, it became part of the Oklahoma Botanical Garden system. Although botanical gardens need only meet a basic collection standard, Lendonwood holds more than 1,200 plant types. It is especially notable for major collections of Chamaecyparis, rhododendrons, daylilies, Japanese maples, hostas, dogwoods, and bonsai. A 150-foot stream with nine pools, a koi pond, and an American Backyard Xeriscape Garden add to its distinctive character and range.
