Vulture Glacier lies in Glacier National Park in Montana, just south of Vulture Peak at an average elevation of 8,412 feet (2,564 meters). It is significant not only for its mountain setting but also for the dramatic retreat that reflects broader changes among the park’s glaciers. Between 1966 and 2005, Vulture Glacier lost more than half of its surface area, making it a clear example of the long-term shrinkage affecting glaciers throughout Glacier National Park.
