Two Ocean Glacier
Nature
Two Ocean Glacier lies in Glacier National Park in Montana below Vulture Peak on the west side of the Continental Divide at an average elevation of about 8,400 feet. By 2005, it had fragmented into numerous ice patches covering a combined 67 acres. Its size had declined sharply over recent decades, and by that year it was already more than 35 percent smaller than in 1966. This shrinkage reflects the wider retreat of glaciers across the park, making Two Ocean Glacier notable as a reduced high-country ice mass rather than a single broad glacier.
