Polish Mountain is a ridge in western Maryland's Allegany County whose northeastern reach extends into Pennsylvania. North of Town Creek and bordered on its eastern side by Town Creek Tributary, it rises to about 1,800 feet. The mountain became a subject of public debate in 2011 when nine Maryland state senators introduced a bill to rename it and nearby Negro Mountain. All four state representatives from Western Maryland opposed the proposal and testified against it, and the bill was defeated in committee. The name Polish Mountain remains in use today.
