Timber Ridge Ski Area
Nature
Timber Ridge Ski Area, near Gobles in southwestern Michigan, developed from a small local hill into a full-service family ski destination. Opened in 1961 with a single tow rope powered by a 1949 Chevy, it now offers 15 trails, eight lifts, two terrain parks, a tubing park, and 50 acres of skiable terrain covered by snowmaking. Most runs serve beginner and intermediate skiers, while some trail names preserve its early volunteer history. Its main lodge, repurposed from the Shelbyville Train Station Depot, reflects the area's local character. Known for accessibility and community-centered winter recreation, it has also earned recognition for its ski patrol.
