Preservation of this prairie began when concerned citizens took a stand to preserve and protect this natural piece of Illinois history. They included garden club members, teachers, parents, and students. Today, volunteers continue the effort by cleaning litter, clearing brush, collecting seeds, and conducting plantings along the prairie.
