Daniel J. Navarre served as Director of the West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Commission from January 1999 until November 2014, becoming its longest-serving director and securing over $4 million in grants that funded large portions of improvement projects. His leadership and innovative approaches enhanced parks and expanded nature trails in West Bloomfield. Projects developed under his guidance included the acquisition and development of an additional 2.5 miles to the West Bloomfield Trail, development of Marshbank Park, renovation of Bloomer Park and the Schulak farmhouse and barn, acquisition of an additional 17 acres to Karner Farm along with creation of the West Bloomfield Dog Park and Community Garden, and creation of the Skate Park at Drake Sports Park.
