Hayford Peak
Nature
Hayford Peak, in southern Nevada’s Clark County, is the highest summit in the Sheep Range, rising to 9,924 feet. It is also the state’s seventh-most topographically prominent peak, underscoring how strongly it stands above the surrounding desert ranges. Its nearest higher neighbor is Mount Charleston, 34 miles to the southwest, a distance that highlights the mountain’s isolation. Although it rises from desert country, the summit often takes on a very different character in winter, when snow commonly covers the peak and can linger into early spring.
