Honey Creek State Natural Area is a nearly 2,300-acre protected preserve in the Texas Hill Country of western Comal County, managed with conservation taking precedence over recreation. Acquired in parts in 1985 and 1988, it opened in 1985 with access limited to guided tours to help preserve its relatively undisturbed character. The area includes a wide range of habitats, from dry rocky uplands to creek banks and floodplain, supporting diverse native plant life such as Ashe juniper, live oak, sycamore, bald cypress, Texas palmetto, and maidenhair fern. It also shelters regional wildlife, including the endangered golden-cheeked warbler, making it an important refuge for sensitive native species.
