Guadalupe River State Park is a Texas state park on the Guadalupe River northwest of Bulverde in Kendall and Comal counties. Acquired from private owners in 1974 and opened in 1983, it encompasses 1,938.7 acres, about four miles of river frontage, and the Bauer Unit, named for a German couple who settled there in the mid-1800s. The park is valued for canoeing, fishing, swimming, tubing, hiking, camping, and birdwatching, while the more undeveloped Bauer Unit has only trails. Its riverbanks and Hill Country woodlands support diverse plant life, varied wildlife, and endangered golden-cheeked warbler habitat.
