The White River Bridge was built in 1930 under the Arkansas State Highway Commission, with Dwight H. Blackwood as chairman, Justin Matthews, J. Lan Williams, J.S. Parks, and Sam J. Wilson serving on the commission, C.S. Christian as state highway engineer, Ira G. Hedrick, Inc. as consulting engineers, and Parham Cont. Co. as contractor. A new bridge was dedicated on August 2, 2001, and the old bridge was imploded on September 12, 2001.
