After the original building next door burned, the A. B. Lander family rebuilt the business at this location, where it became the largest hardware store in Kentucky. Mr. Jimmy Lander was so devoted to the store that the only vacation he ever took was to a hardware convention in Northern Kentucky. Although local children bought their first knives and guns from Mr. Jimmy, the store’s windows rarely escaped soaping on Halloween.
