Winston County honored its sons who fought in the Confederate War from 1861 to 1865, its noble women of the Confederacy who fed and clothed their families and armies for four years, its Spanish-American War heroes of 1898, and the brave sons of the county who were willing to make the supreme sacrifice for the principles for which the U.S. entered the Great World War in 1917, with the hope that the memory of their chivalry and patriotism would be perpetuated for generations yet unborn.
