North Point Park, also known as North Point Conservation Area, is a 17-acre protected shoreline property in southwestern Michigan on Lake Michigan. Owned by Van Buren County, it preserves 330 feet of beach along with critical dunes, wetlands, and a climax maple and beech forest, habitats that have become increasingly rare along the lake. A conservation easement held by the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy protects the land from future development. Unmarked trails lead to a sand dune overlook with broad lake views, while the beach also serves summer recreation. The park stands out as a protected remnant of the region’s original coastal landscape, where less than one percent of nearshore natural habitat remains intact.
