As part of Indiana's statewide Bison-tennial Public Art Project celebrating the state's two hundredth birthday, Fayette County's five-foot-tall fiberglass bison was donated by Fayette County United Way and designed and painted by members of the Whitewater Valley Arts Association. Placed in the courthouse parking area by agreement of the County Commissioners with the support of the Mayor, it portrays a sunny farm scene on one side and the same scene at night on the other, with a tree rising from the front leg to the mane and rows of corn and the horizon extending to the back leg. Vintage black-and-white photos were transferred into the sky around a county farm scene in chronological order on both sides, forming a montage of Connersville history, while the face, head, and mane are rendered in natural color. The work presents a montage of the passing of time, the old and the new, and is called "Monty."
