The St. Croix and Namekagon rivers together form the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, offering over 200 miles of clean water flowing through a forested landscape where people can paddle, boat, fish, camp, hike, and visit historic towns. Access to the Riverway is year-round, with early spring bringing temperatures into the 40's and high, fast, cold water from melting snow and ice, summers that are warm and humid, severe weather possible anytime from mid-spring through late summer, fall colors beginning in late September with high temperatures averaging in the 60's, and winter setting in early with high temperatures in the teens, lows below zero, occasional heavy snow, and rivers that can begin freezing over by early December.
