Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania, developed from a family farm founded in 1932 by Adolph and Helen Dupre, German immigrants from Bavaria, into one of the state’s best-known mountain resorts. At about 3,000 feet above sea level, its relatively high elevation helps sustain a winter season that often lasts from just after Thanksgiving into mid-April. What began with a rope tow for local skiers expanded into a larger ski area with multiple lifts and year-round recreation, including winter sports, warm-weather outdoor activities, and public events. Major upgrades in the 2000s and its acquisition by Vail Resorts at the end of 2021 marked important later milestones.
