Old Colony & Fall River Railroad Museum

In Fall River, Massachusetts, this small museum preserved local rail and waterfront history associated with the old Old Colony lines. Located across from the former Fall River Line Terminal, it recalled the period when boat trains connected Boston and New York City by rail and steamer. Named for the Old Colony and Fall River Railroad, which operated from 1854 to 1863 before joining the wider Old Colony Railroad system, it displayed a modest collection of preserved rail vehicles. Attendance peaked in the 1990s and early 2000s, then declined sharply after about 2009. Financial struggles led to its closure in September 2016 after 30 seasons, and its collection was dispersed.
