Law's Chapel was the first Protestant church in the area. It was founded in 1853 by George Law and his wife Martha, pioneers from Georgia. Its members first worshipped under a brush arbor, then in a log structure. In 1859 it joined the Methodist Conference. Construction of the present building began in 1869. It was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1968.
