Fern Ridge Wildlife Area, west of Eugene, Oregon, is a protected wildlife management area that partly surrounds Fern Ridge Reservoir. It serves as an important bird habitat, with more than 250 species using the area during different seasons. The area is especially known for shorebirds, raptors, and wintering waterfowl, including ducks, geese, and swans, particularly in late fall and winter. Volunteer efforts that support this habitat are managed by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
