Designed by renowned Grand Forks architect Joseph Bell DeRemer, the three-story New Hampshire Apartments was a colonial red Harvard brick structure trimmed with Bedford stone. It was built by the Dinnie Brothers Construction Company and connected to the Security Building by a second-floor walkway, although the original plan for five connected buildings was never completed. Its first-story brownstone façade contained two storefronts, while apartments occupied the upper floors. Early commercial tenants included Kops Music, tailor Thomas Griffiths, and later Monley and Smith, a gas and electric supplier, and the Grand Forks Trunk Company. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Griggs Landing, a popular tavern, occupied the main floor. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and was destroyed in the flood and fire of 1997.
