Ten years after the Flood of 1997 devastated the people and property of Grand Forks as the nation watched, the City of Grand Forks marked the completion of its flood protection project, a milestone in the community's recovery that allowed its citizens to look forward to a future free from fear of a repetition of the disaster, while acknowledging with heartfelt gratitude President William J. Clinton, Senator Kent Conrad, Senator Byron Dorgan, Congressman Earl Pomeroy, the North Dakota State Legislature, Governor Edward T. Schafe, Governor John Hoeven, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers for their extraordinary efforts in making it possible.
