Barnegat Light Public School is a historic one-room schoolhouse in Barnegat Light, New Jersey, built in 1904 and used as the borough’s public school until June 15, 1951, when the Long Beach Island Consolidated School replaced it. In 1954 it became the Barnegat Light Museum, operated by the local historical society. Its exhibits include the first-order Fresnel lens from Barnegat Lighthouse, connecting the building to the community’s maritime history as well as its educational role. Added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 7, 1976, for its significance in education, it endures as both a preserved early 20th-century schoolhouse and a local history museum.
