Steinhatchee Falls is a small waterfall on the Steinhatchee River in southeastern Taylor County, Florida, within a 1,766-acre protected conservation tract. Locally valued as a park and viewpoint, it is one of Florida’s rare natural river drops, where water passes over a limestone ledge, usually falling about four to five feet. The falls are reached by the 3-mile Steinhatchee Trail, with a trailhead on Florida State Road 51 that also serves the Tennille Trail. The surrounding floodplain swamp, forests, and pine plantation support diverse wildlife, and the site, together with nearby Steinhatchee Rise, helps conserve natural habitats in this part of north Florida.
