Forest Capital Museum State Park in Perry preserves the region’s forest heritage through a museum on the history of the forest industry and the wildlife of the surrounding woods. Beside it, the Cracker Homestead, built in 1864, presents everyday life on a Florida homestead with a house, barn, well, arbor, and garden. Together they link the area’s commercial timber past with older rural traditions. The park also functions as a community gathering place, hosting the annual Florida Forest Festival each October for more than 50 years and providing picnic areas, covered pavilions, a playground, and exhibit viewing.
