Rudolf W. Gerber, known as Oceano’s Country Doctor from 1930 through the 1960’s, was an important source of Dunite and town history. He and his wife Catherine were well acquainted with the Dunites who lived in Oceano’s sand dunes. Their craftsman bungalow style office, family home, and garden, which he designed and built, was a landscape showplace with many rare roses, and for years bouquets of his flowers were given to the hospital each week.
