The Deepwater Railroad built its lines to Mullens in 1906, and the first station, a 10 by 20-foot passenger waiting room, stood at the curve 900 feet north of here. The Virginian Railway Station, built in 1910, was a 22 by 54-foot frame structure painted orange like the passenger coaches. After it burned in a 1917 fire, a 22 by 80-foot station with a waiting room and freight room was built. A brick passenger baggage storage building was also built and remains, and it was used as an electric signal control office. A fire in 1919 burned this station and two blocks of the town. The station was rebuilt as a 24 by 90-foot building with an office, waiting room, and freight room, and an overhead covering for the passenger loading area was added in 1926. At one time, six passenger trains arrived here, but passenger service was discontinued in 1955. After a merger with the N&W Railroad, the wooden station was replaced in 197x with a metal office building.
