Miller H. Mellette, born in 1888 and died in 1960, served as a member of the House of Representatives for 24 years, founded the Free Will Baptist Children's Home in Turbeville and served as its chairman of the board, pastored numerous Free Will Baptist churches in the Pee Dee area from 1920 to 1960, and was moderator of the General Conference of the Free Will Baptist Church of the South from 1927 to 1928, in a life of service to God and man.
