Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area in northwestern Arkansas is a 12,056-acre protected landscape south of Beaver Lake, managed for both recreation and conservation by three state agencies. Its creation grew from land assembled by businessman Roscoe C. Hobbs, whose heirs gave Arkansas first chance to buy it if sold. That clause enabled preservation in the late 1970s, when state leaders, conservation groups, banks, and local supporters united to block vacation-house development and secure the property in 1979. Shaped by limestone karst geology with springs and disappearing streams, the park now offers year-round access, trails, limited primitive campsites, picnic areas, and Arkansas state parks’ only shooting range.
