St. Norbert College became the Packers' training camp in 1958 through an agreement that grew into the longest such partnership in NFL history. Father Dennis M. Burke, then president of the college, proposed the arrangement and strengthened the relationship through a close bond with Vince Lombardi after he was hired by the Packers in 1959. During the summer months, Lombardi molded his great teams of the 1960s here. Known for his temper and hard-line coaching style, he struck fear in players when he encountered them on campus and lectured them in meetings, yet he showed a much softer side with the Norbertine fathers who lived and worked on campus and had daily contact with him. During Lombardi's nine seasons, the Packers stayed in Sensenbrenner Hall, where he held his famous 5 o'clock social hour and attended Mass daily. In 1964, scenes for the award-winning documentary Run to Daylight, which featured Lombardi, were filmed here. The Packers later moved to Victor McCormick Hall, which gave them an even shorter walk to meals prepared by St. Norbert chefs. St. Norbert is a private liberal arts college founded in 1898 by the Norbertine Order.
