Marsh Creek State Park in Chester County centers on the man-made Marsh Creek Lake, a reservoir created through a regional water-management project that added drinking water supplies, reduced seasonal flooding, and established a major recreation area. Pennsylvania acquired the land from 1964 to 1978, cleared the valley, completed the dam, and filled the lake, a process that displaced residents and inundated the village of Milford Mills. The park also absorbed the relocated Larkin Covered Bridge. Recreational development around the shoreline followed, and today the park supports boating, fishing, hunting, trails, swimming facilities, winter activities, and serves as an important stop for migrating waterfowl.
