Nature
The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California, is a seasonal garden known for expansive plantings of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus. Its identity is defined by a short spring bloom, usually lasting six to eight weeks from early March to early May, when volunteers guide educational tours. Though now closely associated with flowers, the land was once considered for amusement parks, shopping malls, and resorts. A notable change came in 2012, when the flowers' color variants were altered for the first time since 1997. In 2015, the site gained official protection from further development, preserving one of Carlsbad's most recognized seasonal landscapes.
