Havasu Creek is a northern Arizona stream that joins the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, flowing largely through the Havasupai Indian Reservation. Fed downstream by Havasu Springs, its vivid blue-green water carries heavy calcium carbonate that creates travertine terraces, a limestone-lined channel, and rapidly mineralizing pools that can change noticeably from year to year. The creek passes through Supai and is renowned for its waterfalls, including Havasu, Mooney, and Beaver Falls. Flooding has repeatedly reshaped it, especially in 1910 and again in 2008, when a dam burst forced Supai’s evacuation and altered several well-known falls.
