Clark Cheniere
History
Not far from Manila Village in Barataria Bay, a group of Filipinos led by John (Juan Roxas) Rojas built another shrimping village called Clark Cheniere, or Clarksville. This smaller version of Manila Village was occupied mostly by Filipinos and had a successful store supported by nearby platforms, and it even had its own coin that was readily accepted by locals. Like the other platforms in the Manila Village communities, strong hurricanes eventually brought an end to the village. Many descendants of the Rojas family still live in the Lafitte and Barataria area.
