History
Pleasant Hill Historical Society Museum in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, serves as a public history museum and research library devoted to the town’s past. It preserves local artifacts and historical and genealogical resources, including a notable collection of 8,000 indexed photographs with images dating to the late 1880s. Its facade incorporates elements from historic local buildings, connecting the site to the architectural history it interprets. Not funded by the city, it relies chiefly on Railroad Days each April. The historical society and museum also helped secure National Register listing for the adjacent Pleasant Hill Downtown Historic District, which contains 53 contributing buildings on 19.5 acres.
