Hickory Ridge Homestead in Boone, North Carolina, is a nonprofit living-history museum devoted to the colonial era in the southern Appalachians. Operated by the Southern Appalachian Historical Association, it is arranged as a small historic settlement with six furnished cabins displaying regional building history. These include the Tatum Cabin, moved from Todd and dating to around the end of the American Revolution, the early-1800s Coffey House, a tavern-style cabin, and a Works Progress Administration cabin from the 1930s. Through staff in period clothing and volunteer demonstrations of spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, candle dipping, and open-fire cooking, it links preserved structures to the daily work of early settlers.
