Old Four Fingers, a ruthless outlaw, was killed near this spot on April 1, 1851. He was driven to a life of crime by the humiliation and degeneration resulting from a radical digital mutilation performed upon him by a pious father. After robbing the Foresthill stage, he was apprehended and hung by the Foresthill Armed Riders Crime Expedition.
