Klickitat Trail is a 31-mile rail trail in southern Washington that follows the Klickitat River through the Columbia River Gorge on a former railroad corridor between Lyle and Goldendale. Now managed as a Washington state park, it is divided between a river section to Swale Canyon and a section through the canyon to Warwick, though the canyon portion usually closes during fire season. The route passes through diverse scenery, including a remote tributary canyon, a federally designated Wild and Scenic River, and part of a National Scenic Area. Built as a rail line in 1903, the corridor later became a trail after abandonment in 1992 and transfer to state parks in 1994.
