From 1900 through 1923, the Grand American was held in ten different cities: New York, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Springfield, Dayton, St. Louis, Cleveland, and Atlantic City. In 1924 it was held in Vandalia, Ohio, where it remained for 82 years. In 2006 Sparta, Illinois, hosted its first Grand. Fred Hoppe completed a sculpture for the 100th Grand American held in 1999.
